Chemonics seeks a health market assessment coordinator, with a particular focus on family planning (FP), to support the USAID Frontier Health Markets (FHM) Engage project in Guatemala. Globally, FHM Engage is providing technical assistance (TA) in a range of countries, supporting local actors to improve the ability of health markets to meet supply-side capacity gaps and consumer preferences. FHM Engage contributes to equitable provision of and access to high-quality family planning (FP) and other health services and products in mixed health systems.
The Guatemala health market assessment coordinator will contribute to the development of a market description and recommended solutions in Guatemala for connecting development partners who are financing public health interventions with private sector actors to increase delivery of FP products, services, and information. The location of assignment is in Guatemala City with travel to Huehuetenango and Quiché. This is a part-time consultancy inclusive of approximately 20 days of LOE (Level of Effort) days over a 3-month period.

Responsibilities include:
- Review and become familiar with FHM Engage market development approach (MDA) and rapid assessment tools
- Assist the FHM Engage team to set up stakeholder interview meetings with Guatemalan public and private stakeholders and workshops with key FP consumer groups (e.g., youth, indigenous women)
- Support logistics organization, including transport, needed to meet the meeting and workshop requirements
- Participate in stakeholder interviews including taking / typing interview notes
- Conduct any follow-up stakeholder interviews as indicated by the FHM Engage team
- Assist FHM Engage to develop interview guides for key FP consumer groups
- Conduct and facilitate small ‘workshops’ with key FP consumer groups
- Assist FHM Engage team to compile, organize and analyze data from stakeholder interviews and FP consumer workshops
- Participate in USAID Guatemala meetings
- Review and comment on the draft slide deck of the market description and policy brief with recommendations on how to improve FP market
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in working in Guatemalan FP health markets
- Solid knowledge of Guatemala health sector
- Experience in working on FP programs that collaborate and/or partner with the private health sector in Guatemala
- Extensive contacts and network with private health sector individuals, groups, and businesses engaged in FP services and product delivery
- Ability to engage and coordinate with a wide range of public and private stakeholders in health
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences
- Demonstrated initiative, organization skills, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English
- Fluency in spoken indigenous language, such as Ixil, Quiche, or Mam, preferred

Ratings:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience working in FP health markets in Guatemala.
- Solid knowledge of the health sector in Guatemala.
- Experience in FP programs that collaborate and/or partner with the private health sector in Guatemala.
- Extensive network of contacts of individuals, groups and businesses in the private health sector committed to delivering FP services and products.
- Ability to engage and coordinate with a wide range of public and private health stakeholders.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated initiative, organizational skills, versatility and integrity.
- Mastery of Spanish, both written and spoken.
- Mastery of an indigenous language, such as Quiche, Ixil or Mam, will be valued.
