Country: France

Closing date: 13 Oct 2024

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international humanitarian medical association, created in 1971, which helps sick or injured populations in the context of armed conflicts, epidemics, natural disasters or due to exclusion from care.

As part of a replacement within the Learning and Development (L&D) department, we are looking for a Educational specialist M/F

The Learning and Development (L&D) department aims to act as a partner and provide adequate support to strengthen the capacities of the individuals who make up the association.

Learning has always been at the heart of MSF’s practices and for several years the organisation has been working to break down the barriers between its training offer, a system in which MSF has historically invested the most, and the rest of the systems necessary for the professional development of its teams.

In this context, the organization has formalized the institutional vision of Learning & Development (L&D) and the role of each person in implementing this vision, while working on broader issues such as the organization of work and the culture of learning that MSF wishes to encourage in all its areas of intervention.

In a reaffirmed desire to position itself as a support for operations, the L&D unit’s mission is to develop the learning offer and tools to support the professional development of teams.

Mission :

Reporting to the L&D Manager, your main responsibilities revolve around the following missions:

Coordinator of “Training the Trainer” learning solutions.

Since its creation, MSF has been an organization where learning is key and the development of our staff is essential due to our work environments and our activities. We must support this field learning by improving the quality of our offer for our trainers (simulation, training in work situations, traditional face-to-face training, companionship, mentoring, virtual class, etc.) in order to equip and support them as best as possible. You will have to coordinate the design, deployment, monitoring and evaluation of the learning offer in this area :

  • Be the guarantor of the coherence of the existing learning offer and be a driving force for its development in line with the needs on the ground
  • Manage the deployment of “classic face-to-face trainer training” training (session management, trainer pool management, etc.) and ensure its facilitation
  • Being a technical referent “simulation”: simulation aims to reproduce work situations or environments as realistically as possible, so that the learner is immersed in this context, to learn, but also to reflect on his practices and skills. You will be responsible for developing a strategy to develop its use at MSF.
  • Define and develop an offer relating to other learning methods: virtual classroom, training in work situations, mentoring, etc.
  • Developing the trainer’s “toolbox” for the field
  • Construction, management and monitoring of the annual budget relating to this scope.

Educational referent – support and assist L&D coordinators and professional experts in pedagogy in order to ensure the quality of the content:

  • Define, produce and communicate recommendations on methodology, guidelines, processes, tools and good practices in face-to-face learning
  • Collaborate with L&D Coordinators and Learning Project Managers in conducting analyses to determine appropriate pedagogical strategies/methodologies, project framing, timelines, resource requirements and potential constraints
  • Guide and support L&D coordinators and learning project managers in the development of learning solutions
  • Communicate and partner with internal business experts to ensure quality and improvement of learning
  • Identify changes and improvements to be made to the existing L&D offering in terms of pedagogy

This work is carried out in partnership with the digital learning referent in order to ensure the consistency of our entire offer.

Monitoring and evaluation referent on face-to-face learning:

  • Define and implement the global strategy for evaluating and monitoring the effectiveness of our learning solutions in order to better understand the impact on our learners, teams and MSF operations
  • Support L&D coordinators and project managers in setting up specific evaluations of certain learning solutions
  • Provide recommendations to L&D Coordinators and other stakeholders to inform the design and development of future learning events

This work is carried out in partnership with the deployment support center to ensure the consistency of the tools and methods used.

Possible employment activities:

  • Participate in cross-functional projects of the L&D department
  • Manager of Learning Development Project Managers
  • Carry out monitoring to identify innovations and new trends in the field of learning and development.
