The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, working in over 40 countries to provide appropriate assistance with a rights-based approach to refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced people, returnees and migrants. DRC has been present in Colombia since 2011 with a focus on Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) and providing support to the population affected by the conflict in the south of the country, but in 2018 it expanded its operations in response to the Venezuelan crisis. Currently, DRC Colombia implements a humanitarian response focused on protection for Venezuelan and Colombian refugees and returned migrants in Colombian cities such as Riohacha, Barranquilla and Bogotá, and currently also includes activities in the municipality of Barbacoas and in Norte de Santander.

About the work:

The IT Assistant is responsible for providing end-user support, technical support (hardware and software), supporting the development of Microsoft 365 environment applications and the organization’s application databases in Colombia in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council – DRC internal framework and the regulations imposed by donors. Additionally, supporting activities related to the coordination of logistics and acquisition of technological equipment, ensuring compliance with DRC procedures and guidelines.

Main Responsibilities

Application development

  • Support the development and support of applications used by the organization that are based on the Microsoft 365 environment (PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI, etc.).
  • Support the development and support of databases under the Postges engine.

Hardware support

  • Respond to help desk requests related to problems with devices such as laptops, cell phones, printers and other IT-related issues.
  • Support the preparation of new IT devices requested from the different DRC Latin America bases.
  • Format equipment under DRC regulations.

Software Support

  • Respond to help desk requests related to software issues such as Office licenses, software installation, printer configuration, and other IT-related issues.

Use and appropriation of IT

  • Support training processes in the use and appropriation of applications such as: PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI.
  • Support training processes in the use and appropriation of devices such as computers, cell phones, printers, and other IT-related devices.

Logistics

  • Participate in the joint verification of acquired technological assets (fixed assets) in the Office
  • National and ensure its compliance with established technical specifications.
  • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of DRC’s technological assets, in order to ensure their optimal conditions.
  • Manage the receipt and delivery of DRC technological goods with contracted suppliers, ensuring proper documentation of these processes.
  • Make minor purchases (when required) of parts or tools for the correct maintenance or repair of DRC technological equipment.
  • Timely monitoring of the status of technological equipment when it is in the custody of IT providers for repairs, warranties, returns or claims.

Others:

  • Have soft skills to provide suitable technical support to end users
  • Other activities required by the organization, related to IT management in Colombia and LAC.

Experience and technical skills:

  • 1 year of experience in end-user support, technical support (hardware and software).
  • Knowledge in training for the use and appropriation of IT.
  • Basic handling of programming languages ​​and database engines.
  • High level of IT skills, especially in Office 365, PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI.

Required Education:

  • Technologist or professional in systems engineering, electronics, mechatronics or similar. Student in the last semester of the aforementioned undergraduate courses without pending subjects (doing thesis), or equivalent professional qualification.

Languages:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is desirable
