Brot für die Welt (Bread for the World) is the development agency of the Protestant Churches in Germany, working worldwide. Our goal is a world without hunger, poverty and injustice, in which all human beings have the opportunity to live in dignity (https://www.brot-fuer-die-welt.de/es/pan-para-el-mundo/).
The regional office in San José, Costa Rica, is responsible for Brot für die Welt’s cooperation in Central America (in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica) and is part of the Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and Colombia Unit at the organization’s headquarters in Berlin. The office is responsible for facilitating projects and programs within the framework of financial and personnel cooperation, as well as technical advice to local partner organizations, including their lobbying and advocacy work. For this purpose, financial resources from Brot für die Welt, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Church Development Service and third-party funds are used.
The work of the Project Officer focuses on financial cooperation to organizations
of civil society in Central America with a primary focus on El Salvador.
The area of responsibility of the position includes:
Planning, support and monitoring of financial cooperation actions in conjunction with counterpart organizations and in coordination with the management of the regional office.
Evaluation and documentation of ongoing and completed projects.
Review of project requests with respect to programmatic and regional needs, preparation of approval proposals to request the respective funds
Budgetary responsibility and financial processing of projects.
Dialogue with partner organizations in Spanish, combined with regular work trips in Central America.
Close coordination with the work units responsible for cooperation

You meet the following requirements:
Completed university academic degree or comparable qualification in the relevant subject
At least three years of professional experience in international development cooperation
Good ability in the area of project management and financial management
Very good knowledge of Spanish, knowledge of German and/or English is an advantage
Ability to think innovatively and strategically and to work in an intercultural team
Commitment, initiative and responsibility for work
Intercultural and gender competence
Reflect Christian values in daily activities
Good knowledge of current MS Office programs and digital tools and willingness to learn special programs for project work.
We offer you a local contract with a competitive salary between US$2,768 and US$2,952 gross/worker (according to our salary schedule), flexible working hours (with one day of teleworking per week) and 20 days of vacation/personal enjoyment in an international work team.
