Job Overview\/Summary:<\/strong><\/p>\n The External Relations (ER) department is comprised of three main but complementary functional areas: Private fundraising, Communications, and Advocacy. The main objective of the department is to enable this organization of more than 15,000 staff to have the resources needed to continue serving 18 million people worldwide in places affected by war and disaster. The Philanthropy unit, part of the ER department, leads on the organization\u2019s work with High-Net-Worth Individuals. Positioned within USA Philanthropy, the Principal Giving East team has a goal of improving private individual support for the IRC by engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding significant, multi-year commitments from ultra-high net worth individual supporters that are based in the eastern region of the United States.<\/p>\n The IRC is seeking to hire a fundraiser and relationship cultivator to serve as a Senior Officer of Principal Giving. The ideal candidate has proven experience in overseeing a portfolio, understanding the motivations of philanthropists, and is able to assess the inclination of a donor or prospect\u2019s willingness to make a principal (seven-figure) gift to the IRC over a number of years. As a collaborative and strategic problem-solver, the Senior Officer will work closely with the team’s Director to handle high-level partnerships and opportunities. The Senior Officer also will collaborate across the External Relations team to secure proposals, donor engagement communications and touch points, and stewardship reports.<\/p>\n Major Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Oversee a dynamic portfolio of 50+ high net worth individuals by moving the IRC’s relationship with each through qualification, cultivation and solicitation.<\/p>\n \u2022 In partnership with Director, Principal Giving, design tactics and creative, long-term engagement strategy to deepen donor dedication and increase giving.<\/p>\n \u2022 Create strategic correspondence, including solicitations, cultivation pieces, reports and other stewardship materials, to engage donors and prospects.<\/p>\n \u2022 Participate in the design of tactics and long-term engagement strategy to deepen donor commitment and increase giving.<\/p>\n \u2022 Choreograph, prepare strategy, briefing and debriefing materials for face-to-face meetings and solicitations with Principal donors conducted personally and\/or by senior staff and Board leadership.<\/p>\n \u2022 Collaborate with colleagues across the IRC, to align donor and organizational priorities in a way that maximizes income for the IRC and creates multi\u00adfaceted, deep engagement with the organization.<\/p>\n \u2022 Work collaboratively with Managers to strategize and actively track and measure progress toward financial goals and movement of prospects and donors across the donor lifecycle.<\/p>\n \u2022 Undertake special projects as requested.<\/p>\n Job Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 5+ years of progressive fundraising experience and demonstrated expertise in private sector, major gifts, or principal gifts\u2019 fundraising; or sales, including direct solicitation of donors or clients and closing gifts.<\/p>\n Preferred Experience & Skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Demonstrated ability to close 6-7 figure gifts from a dynamic portfolio of donors and prospects;<\/p>\n \u2022 Ability to develop creative and nuanced donor strategy often carried out in partnership with program staff and the Director and Senior Director of Principal Giving.<\/p>\n \u2022 Outstanding communication skills, including writing, listening, verbal presentation and speaking;<\/p>\n \u2022 Responsive to change in a fast-paced work environment while keeping donor priorities at the center of strategy and relationship building;<\/p>\n \u2022 Ability to diplomatically and sensitively collaborate across teams internally, regardless of distance, and garner support for and implement initiatives effectively;<\/p>\n \u2022 Ability to identify and build processes necessary to support effective donor relationships;<\/p>\n \u2022 Ability to analyze and interpret financial data;<\/p>\n \u2022 Ability to navigate CRM systems;<\/p>\n \u2022 Dedication to fundraising for international development, humanitarian, human rights, gender and racial equality, social justice, and US immigrant communities.<\/p>\n Working Environment:<\/strong> Requires remote\/flex-time work.<\/p>\n Compensation:<\/strong><\/p>\n Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.
