Within the framework of Directive No. 004-2022- INPE- DTP: \u201cComprehensive care and penitentiary treatment for persons deprived of liberty and the extramural prison population with special protection needs\u201d, the International Committee of the Red Cross – ICRC seeks to contribute to making visible the needs of people requiring special protection (older adults, people with disabilities, indigenous or native peoples and the Afro-Peruvian population, foreigners, those with terminal illnesses, with HIV, TB, LGBTI) who are serving their sentences in penitentiary establishments. Through pilot activities, the ICRC seeks to promote actions that can improve the conditions of their confinement in terms of access to specialized services and treatment, and the opportunities for the exercise of their rights through the development of activities that comprehensively address the vulnerabilities they face.<\/p>\n
