{"id":7676,"date":"2024-07-18T23:08:29","date_gmt":"2024-07-18T18:08:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/secardo.org\/park-director-of-ntokou-pikounda-national-park\/"},"modified":"2024-07-18T23:08:29","modified_gmt":"2024-07-18T18:08:29","slug":"park-director-of-ntokou-pikounda-national-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/secardo.org\/?p=7676","title":{"rendered":"PARK DIRECTOR OF NTOKOU PIKOUNDA NATIONAL PARK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"tag country\">Country: Congo<\/div>\n<div class=\"tag source\">Organization: World Wide Fund For Nature<\/div>\n<div class=\"date closing\">Closing date: 9 Aug 2024<\/div>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE ROLE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The NPNP Park Director will directly implement the annual work plan, ensure synergies between the different actors and funding within NPNP, and work closely with partners inside and outside the park to achieve optimal conservation results.<br \/>\nWith extensive expertise in protected area management, the Director will oversee and coordinate the implementation of all activities in NPNP with the entire WWF and Congolese Agency for Wildlife and Protected Areas (ACFAP) team.<br \/>\nThe Director heads the park management unit &#8220;La Coordination&#8221; together with the Deputy Director (ACFAP) and acts as Secretary to the Park Management Committee. They support the Deputy Park Director in supervising ACFAP\/MEF (Ministry of Forest Economy) staff working in law enforcement.<br \/>\nThe Director is the principal supervisor of Park staff recruited to work in biomonitoring, tourism, infrastructure, financial management, logistics, and community development activities and collaborates with partners and stakeholders to achieve Park objectives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategic leadership:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Development, implementation and adaptive oversight of the Park management plan.<br \/>\n\u25cf Institutional strengthening and training, policies and legislation, project monitoring.<br \/>\n\u25cf Enforcement and application of WWF&#8217;s ESSF and social policies regarding protected area management and the participation of local communities and indigenous peoples.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Park supervision and coordination:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Working closely with the Deputy Park Director, the Park Director plans, directs and supervises park activities.<br \/>\n\u25cf Coordinate with government and non-government partners and other park stakeholders to develop a shared vision for the park while supporting synergies with landscape management.<br \/>\n\u25cf Oversee programme planning to reinforce progress towards objectives (e.g., strengthen park management, anti-poaching activities, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>Human and financial resources management:<br \/>\n\u25cf Ensures financial management in line with the established procedures of funding partners and WWF, justifying expenditure, reviewing financial reports, planning budgets, etc.<br \/>\n\u25cf Ensures budgets are approved and expenditures justified according to the procedures defined by the various partners<\/p>\n<p><strong>SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Experience in conservation or development organisations, preferably in a similar field.<br \/>\n\u25cf Project management experience in Central Africa is highly desirable.<br \/>\n\u25cf Strong working knowledge of park management and what it takes to effectively manage a large-scale park.<br \/>\n\u25cf An understanding of forest ecology, wildlife and natural resource management principles is important.<br \/>\n\u25cf Good knowledge of bio-monitoring in forest environments and law enforcement procedures.<br \/>\n\u25cf A clear understanding of community-based natural resource management and rural livelihood issues.<br \/>\n\u25cf Strong administrative and financial management skills and excellent organisational skills.<br \/>\n\u25cf Excellent project and people management skills to manage complex multi-faceted projects, negotiate and resolve conflicts.<br \/>\n\u25cf Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and good oral and written communication in English.<br \/>\n\u25cf Experience working with government officials and donors.<br \/>\n\u25cf Ability to live and work in remote and harsh conditions.<br \/>\n\u25cf Ability to live in a multicultural context and accept local values.<br \/>\n\u25cf Adherence to WWF values, which are courage, integrity, respect and collaboration.<\/p>\n<h2 id='how-to-apply'  id=\"boomdevs_1\">How to apply<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Piqued your interest?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To apply for this role, please prepare your CV (in English) and a motivation letter (one page) that summarises how your profile aligns with the key requirements, skills and abilities of this role.
