It is now one of the leading organization working to protect and improve the well-being and health of vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.<br \/>\nThe NGO promotes long-term health cooperation projects, intervening also in emergencies to ensure that services are available to all.<br \/>\nDoctors with Africa CUAMM is currently active in 8 Sub-Saharan countries: <strong>Angola, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe NGO supports public and non-profit hospitals, local districts, schools of nursing and midwifery, university faculties of medicine.<br \/>\nCUAMM\u2019s action focuses on health system strengthening and targets the weakest population groups, particularly women and children. Interventions include prevention, screening and treatment programmes; development or strengthening of referral systems at community level; training of health staff; management support and technical assistance to local health institutions; field research.<br \/>\nCUAMM&#8217;s international and national staff <strong>work together<\/strong> on the front line <strong>to strengthen local health systems, in resource-limited contexts<\/strong> where the commitment and contribution of the individual can make a real difference.<br \/>\nWhich is why we always need skilled and motivated people who are ready to join us to collaborate on our projects &#8216;with Africa&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job position:<\/strong> Nurse Anaesthetist &#8211; short mission<br \/><strong>Location:<\/strong> Maternity Hospital of Pujehun, Sierra Leone<br \/><strong>Start date:<\/strong> late April-early May 2025<br \/><strong>Duration:<\/strong> 2 months, with possibility of renewal based on emerging needs, performance and available funds<br \/><strong>Family duty station:<\/strong> NO<br \/><em>Note: the NGO reserves the right to close the application process once the position is filled.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose of the role<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Nurse Anaesthetist will work to support on-the-job training and supervision activities for nurse anaesthetist students, during their clinical practice in obstetric anaesthesia at the Government Maternity Hospital of Pujehun.<br \/>\nHe\/she will be responsible for developing and facilitating on-the-job supervision, group discussions and debriefing sessions for the students, allowing them to reflect on and discuss their practical experiences, share challenges, and reinforce key learning points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key duties<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Deliver on-the-job supervision for nurse anaesthetist students, reinforcing the skills acquired during clinical practice, in collaboration with the Operation Theatre staff.<\/li>\n<li>Organize and facilitate group discussions and debriefing sessions to review practical experiences, analyse challenging cases and share lessons learned.<\/li>\n<li>Design and deliver on-the-job training to reinforce key learning points, based on the need identified by the Operation Theatre staff and the students during clinical practice.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct one-to-one mentorship sessions with the students, offering constructive feedback and additional support.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with academic institutions and student\u2019s training responsible at national level and ensure the full compliance with the requirements of the internship.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with hospital staff to foster a positive and supportive learning environment for students that promotes professional growth.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with CUAMM\u2019s project teams on data collection and reporting on training and supervision activities and outcomes, and their impact on healthcare services provision.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nursing qualification plus Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Anaesthesia or a recognised qualification as nurse anaesthetist<\/li>\n<li>Minimum 2 years of experience in anaesthesia care both in clinical and academic environment; preferable previous experience in fragile\/low-resources settings<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in English (reading, writing and speaking)<\/li>\n<li>Experience in training, supervising, and\/or mentoring of healthcare personnel<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of international standards for safe practice of anesthesia and patient care.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal, communication, teaching and team leadership skills.<\/li>\n<li>Strong interest in training and capacity-building in low-resource settings.<\/li>\n<li>High level of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and ability to work collaboratively.<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility and ability to cope with stressful and fast-paced environments.<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience working with NGOs, public health institutions, or teaching hospitals in developing countries is an asset.<\/li>\n<li>Adaptability to live and work in rural area<\/li>\n<li>Female applicants are encouraged to apply<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>TERMS OF CONTRACT<\/strong><br \/><strong>Type of contract:<\/strong> collaboration contract stipulated with the HQs in Italy<br \/><strong>Salary:<\/strong> TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the job position, with possible increase based on professional experience and rural area hardship allowance)<br \/><strong>Rest days:<\/strong> not foreseen as contract duration is less than 4 months<br \/><strong>Flight ticket:<\/strong> one return flight<br \/><strong>Health issues:<\/strong> the NGO provides health insurance and covers the costs of any compulsory vaccinations<br \/><strong>Visa and permits:<\/strong> the NGO bears the cost and paperwork for visa, professional registration, work and residence permits<br \/><strong>Accommodation:<\/strong> provided by the NGO, it is generally individual, depending on the logistical situation and the availability of accommodation in the workplace<br \/><strong>Other costs:<\/strong> the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet;
