Job Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n The Integrated English and Training (IET) Instructor is responsible for providing integrated job readiness and technical instruction for non-native English-speaking adults enrolled into the program. The Integrated English and Training (IET) class is a cohort model for two certificate programs in the Allied Health Field; Dental Assistant and Pharmacy Technicians. The instructor must be able to successfully develop and tailor curriculum and materials to the needs of students enrolled into the program including the support of student recruitment, registration, attendance tracking, retention, progress and assessment.<\/p>\n This is a part-time non-exempt 18.75 hour per week position, reporting to the Adult Education Instructional Supervisor. Classes will be held on Saturdays or evenings, depending on the cohort\u2019s availability.<\/p>\n Major Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Deliver IET class instruction.<\/p>\n o Plan and prepare curricula and lesson plans for English language learners to understand the technical content.<\/p>\n o Plan and prepare curricula and lesson plans for English language learners to understand the job market and how to successfully apply for jobs, complete interviews, and follow the norms of the American workplace.<\/p>\n o Tune lesson activities to meet student needs across a range of English proficiency levels, from intermediate to advanced levels of speaking, comprehension, reading, and writing.<\/p>\n o Document student progress with goal setting and conference notes and assist in recruitment and retention activities.<\/p>\n \u2022 Orient and conference with current and potential students, assisting students in completing necessary intake and enrollment forms, both virtually, using phone and web-based platforms, and in-person.<\/p>\n \u2022 Administer appropriate assessments to measure and track student progress and gains.<\/p>\n \u2022 Assist with record-keeping and data entry to support program administration and compliance with programmatic requirements. Document student progress by keeping accurate and timely attendance records, case notes, assessment data, program participant surveys, and observations of student progress.<\/p>\n \u2022 Maintain a positive learning environment. Facilitate student learning activities that build cultural and community knowledge and encourage collaboration and positive peer support.<\/p>\n \u2022 Maintain open and effective communication with adult education team members. Report regularly on program goals, client attendance, learning activities, student progress and any problems or concerns with clients or program.<\/p>\n \u2022 Actively participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and professional development opportunities.<\/p>\n Job Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n Education<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree (4-year) required.<\/p>\n \u2022 Experience working in Health Care.<\/p>\n \u2022 Completion of a certificate program Pharmacy Technician or Dental Assistant.<\/p>\n Work Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Relevant professional experience in education and\/or human services strongly preferred.<\/p>\n \u2022 Experience working with immigrants or refugees preferred.<\/p>\n Demonstrated Skills & Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Strong desire to support vulnerable individuals and families and enthusiasm for working in a multi-cultural setting.<\/p>\n \u2022 Enthusiasm for adult education and language learning.<\/p>\n \u2022 An interest in immigrant and refugee and asylee issues and the resettlement process.<\/p>\n \u2022 Strong communication abilities, including the ability to lead classes and oversee community volunteers and adult learners.<\/p>\n \u2022 Detail oriented and comfortable working with online databases.<\/p>\n \u2022 Comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment, in-person, online, and over the phone, with adult learners, sometimes with little or no English proficiency.<\/p>\n \u2022 Ability to take initiative, work independently on projects, and follow through on critical tasks.<\/p>\n \u2022 Ability to work in a collaborative environment, co-teaching and facilitating learning through others.<\/p>\n \u2022 Strong time management skills and comfortability with computer and web-based office and communication platforms.<\/p>\n \u2022 Fluent in spoken and written English. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.
