Job Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under the supervision of the Education and Training Program Manager, the Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for supporting the provision of services to assist newly arrived Hattian Immigrants to attain self-sufficiency through employment or microenterprise. Specifically, the Community Outreach Specialist supports services that include community outreach, work readiness training, micro enterprise training, employment preparation, placement, career enhancement services and follow-up services.<\/p>\n

Major Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Support the intake, assessment, and orientation to clients eligible for services;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Provide both group and one-on-one intense job readiness orientations that provide clients with the basic skills required to enhance their employability;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Provide both group and one-on-one workforce and small business development orientations that provide clients with the basic skills required to enhance their opportunities for employment or entrepreneurship;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Determine specific employment or small business opportunities appropriate to Hattian clients and assist clients in accessing these opportunities by guiding them through the process;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Assist clients and employers as necessary with post placement issues and continuing employment needs;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Ensure timely and accurate compliance to all reporting requirements, and entry into two different databases;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Participate in all program meetings, weekly employment meeting, staff development activities, and fully engage as a member of the team;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Comply with all policies, procedures and protocols of the agency;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Conduct outreach and develop new stakeholder relationships in effort to better support the Hattian Community;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n

Job Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Undergraduate degree in a related field; or mix of equivalent years of education and related work experience;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Two years of related professional work experience ideal (in addition to the above);<\/p>\n

\u2022 Demonstrated experience with the U.S. job search process and the ability to effectively coach clients through the nuanced process of securing employment;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English\/Creole Haitian required;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Proven success achieving goals and working effectively with all levels of staff in a multicultural environment;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook);<\/p>\n

\u2022 Valid driver\u2019s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.<\/p>\n

Working Environment:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Standard office environment, including the current hybrid mode of remote work within San Diego County and required in-office days, and some \u2018field\u2019 time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. Office working environment is subject to change based on organization\/business need.<\/p>\n

\u2022 May require occasional weekend and\/or evening work.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Offices hours are scheduled as Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Access to a reliable vehicle to travel throughout the service delivery area with a valid driver’s license and current insurance required.<\/p>\n

Compensation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.<\/p>\n

US Benefits:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.<\/p>\n

In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs. Part-time employees are eligible for a proportionate amount of paid time off. These additional benefits apply to employees who work at least 6 months within a 12 month time period.<\/p>\n
