The program Finance Assistant is responsible for financial support to the IRC Iowa\u2019s program team, focusing largely on client payments and tracking, p-card reconciliation, and essential accounting functions including accounts payable and receivable support, report reconciliation, month-end, and adjusting journal entries. The program Finance Assistant reports to the Finance Coordinator and is a member of the four-person finance department.<\/p>\n

Major Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Operate effectively in IRC\u2019s proprietary ERP financial accounting system (integra) and coach program staff regularly on the process and the system.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Process payments by a variety of methods \u2013 ACH, Prepaid Cards and Checks<\/p>\n

\u2022 Process and support the program team on client\u2019s payment mostly through USIO cards.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Support program team on client\u2019s tracking, p-card reconciliation, mileage and submitting other expenses in the Integra system.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Review payment requests made in financial system by staff for accuracy; submit through workflow and post<\/p>\n

\u2022 Prepare a wide variety of month-end, financial close journal entries within mandated deadlines<\/p>\n

\u2022 Oversee and review new vendor set-up process<\/p>\n

\u2022 Prepare weekly grant spending reports; work with staff to resolve any discrepancies<\/p>\n

\u2022 Prepare monthly Time & Effort reports, send to staff for signature, collect and file<\/p>\n

\u2022 Prepare weekly deposit and customer payment journals to be posted to the financial system<\/p>\n

\u2022 Create aging reports for fee-for-service programs and follow up on unpaid invoices<\/p>\n

\u2022 Void checks as needed<\/p>\n

\u2022 Oversee, review and post contributions-in-kind (donations and volunteer time) in accordance with grant requirements<\/p>\n

\u2022 Assist with internal and external audit inquiries and reporting<\/p>\n

\u2022 Maintain accounting files and records in accordance with IRC and donor requirements<\/p>\n

\u2022 Other projects and assignments as needed<\/p>\n

Job Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Education<\/strong>: Bachelor\u2019s or Associate\u2019s degree in business, accounting or finance preferred. Professional experience in lieu of education will be considered.<\/p>\n

Work Experience:<\/strong> Relevant professional experience in finance and accounting required; minimum of 2 years\u2019 experience strongly preferred.<\/p>\n

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Ability to carry out work with a high degree of integrity and confidentiality<\/p>\n

\u2022 Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Fluent in English, both spoken and written.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research and problem-solving purposes.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Working knowledge of accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics a plus<\/p>\n

Working Environment:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Professional office environment with some travel between Des Moines and Iowa City office required, on as needed basis<\/p>\n

\u2022 Must be comfortable working in front of the computer and with data for long periods of time<\/p>\n

Compensation<\/strong>: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.<\/p>\n
