The Role<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oxfam International is looking for a Media and Narratives Officer to contribute to the delivery of international media in support of Oxfam\u2019s priorities, specifically Oxfam\u2019s inequality advocacy and narratives, and a new program on global economic change (hosted by Oxfam America to reshape global economic thinking and post-neoliberalism to tackle inequality both within and between countries).
\nThe role-holder will energize and coordinate stakeholders and peers from Oxfam International, Oxfam America, regions, countries and affiliates, and work closely with partners, allies and a cohort of scholars from the Global South to shift narratives and boost transformative ideas to tackle inequality in international, regional and national media. The role-holder will ensure that output is tightly integrated so that the media team and other teams in the department are united in delivering high-quality content across all platforms.
\nWho we\u2019re looking for
\nEssential:
\n\u2022 Demonstrably solid news judgement and excellent written and verbal communications skills; proven track record in journalism or media-related experience; knowledge of international and\/or regional media;
\n\u2022 Demonstrable competence and enthusiasm for delivering content across all media tools, channels, and platforms;
\n\u2022 Drive to achieve maximum coverage coupled with understanding and appreciation for good collaborative working processes;
\n\u2022 Ability to develop overarching media and social media strategies and messaging for key confederation-wide projects.
\n\u2022 Ability to articulate complex issues, especially economic issues, in an accessible manner, with flair and precision;
\n\u2022 Ability to liaise with a wide range of people, both internally and externally and at many levels, with credibility, tact and diplomacy;
\n\u2022 Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with ability to lead, influence and motivate others;
\n\u2022 Effective negotiation abilities and informal leadership skills in a multi-stakeholder, multi-cultural, network environment;
\n\u2022 Understanding of media-related reputation risk and mitigation\/management;
\n\u2022 Research, monitoring and evaluation skills;
\n\u2022 Excellent spoken and written English.
\nDesirable:
\n\u2022 Fluency in other languages, especially French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic.
\n\u2022 Experience in social media.
\n\u2022 Experience filming and\/or editing video content.
