CONSULTANCY is sought to provide gymnastics, tai chi and/or yoga classes for people deprived of liberty; based in Lima

Within the framework of Directive No. 004-2022- INPE- DTP: “Comprehensive care and penitentiary treatment for persons deprived of liberty and the extramural prison population with special protection needs”, the International Committee of the Red Cross – ICRC seeks to contribute to making visible the needs of people requiring special protection (older adults, people with disabilities, indigenous or native peoples and the Afro-Peruvian population, foreigners, those with terminal illnesses, with HIV, TB, LGBTI) who are serving their sentences in penitentiary establishments. Through pilot activities, the ICRC seeks to promote actions that can improve the conditions of their confinement in terms of access to specialized services and treatment, and the opportunities for the exercise of their rights through the development of activities that comprehensively address the vulnerabilities they face.
Aim:
- Provide calisthenics gymnastics classes (25-59 years), tai chi and/or yoga (60-76 years) to foreigners deprived of their liberty.
- Provide a physical education space for foreigners deprived of their liberty.
- Promote activities of interest linked to healthy living and good use of time.
- Promote the physical, mental and emotional well-being of participants.
Profile of the service provider(s):
- Gymnastics, aerobics, tai chi and/or yoga dance teacher. (1 or 2 grouped)
- Experience working with vulnerable people.
- Experience working with people deprived of liberty (optional).
- Availability to carry out work in the Ancón district (once a week)
- With knowledge of the English language.
- Ease of communication, empathy and high degree of reliability.
Term of service:
The service will last (03) months, starting in the month of August.
Form and place of provision of the service
The service will be provided in person at the Ancón 2 Penitentiary Establishment – Lima.
Deliverables and schedule of activities:
Classes will be offered in groups, at least once a week, for a period of 2 hours per age group. The frequency may vary depending on the needs of the persons deprived of liberty and the request of the prison staff. The development of activities and progress must be reported continuously to the ICRC.
Financial compensation
To be defined, at the proposal of the service provider, which must be at all costs, including legal taxes.
