ASAD has its headquarters in the city of Granada, Spain, from where it coordinates the implementation of cooperation projects in Guatemala, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Guinea-Bissau, while also supporting the implementation of Education and Social Action projects developed in Andalusia.

The organization has been working in Guinea-Bissau since 2007, especially in the areas of education, basic infrastructure development, entrepreneurship and food sovereignty. Currently, ASAD is implementing projects in three regions of the country: Gabú, Bolama and Bafatá.

Job Functions

  • Lead, at a technical level, the area of ​​education, vocational training and entrepreneurship in the projects that ASAD develops in Guinea Bissau.
  • Define policies and institutional tools at the country level to ensure that all projects contribute “to the development of a more just, equal and sustainable society by promoting the social and solidarity economy, promoting food sovereignty, income-generating activities and strengthening self-management.”
  • Establish and coordinate institutional relations with the Ministry of National Education and its different bodies and delegations (regional and sub-regional delegations, educational centres, INAFOR, DGEPASE, DGAENF…), as well as different private vocational training schools.
  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of a strategy to promote self-employment with a gender perspective through business incubators within the framework of the projects.
  • Lead local teams in charge of education, vocational training and entrepreneurship for the correct implementation of activities.
  • Supervise and coordinate ASAD’s education, vocational training and entrepreneurship technicians.
  • Participate in coordination spaces established by project managers to ensure the cross-cutting integration of education, vocational training and entrepreneurship actions.
  • Carry out, in collaboration with those responsible for communication, the necessary actions to ensure coordination between the components of education, vocational training, entrepreneurship, communication and gender within each project.
  • Draft, review and provide input into technical reports on monitoring activities and projects, both internal and those requested by funding agencies, specifically in relation to the area and activities of education, vocational training and entrepreneurship.
  • Participate, if necessary, in meetings with rights holders or beneficiaries, local, regional and national authorities, both official and traditional, as well as funding agents, partner organizations, consultants and any other agent involved in the projects to make contributions related to the area of ​​education, vocational training and entrepreneurship.

Profile

Essential requirements:

  • University degree in educational sciences or related field.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in development cooperation, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in project coordination.
  • Relevant experience (3 years or more) leading vocational training and economic entrepreneurship programs on the ground, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Intermediate level of English (B2).
  • High level of Portuguese (C1 or native language) and excellent writing skills.
  • Excellent handling of office packages, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Excellent handling of Drive and Google work tools.
  • Commitment to human rights and specifically to gender equality.
  • Commitment to ASAD values.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, as well as working under short deadlines.
  • Good communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
