Focus on our activities in Niger

PUI has been present in Niger since 2017, as part of its regional strategy in the Central Sahel region and since the deterioration of the security situation in the “3 borders” area, and implements health programs to help vulnerable populations. Today, PUI has a coordination office in Niamey as well as two operational bases in Ouallam and Torodi, in the Tillabéri region and an operational base in Maradi. PUI’s actions in Niger, supported by BHA and the CDCS, aim to improve access to care and strengthen monitoring and alert systems, particularly community systems, while working towards a sustainable strengthening of health structures in the Tillabéri and Maradi regions. Our teams strengthen the health system by supporting the region’s health centers and deploying mobile clinics to facilitate access to care.

And the Head of Mission in all this?

As Head of Mission, you will be responsible for the proper functioning and development of the mission. To this end, your responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Security: You will be responsible for security on the mission
  • Programmes: You will coordinate the teams and ensure the proper implementation of programs on the mission, you will monitor needs and propose new interventions and development avenues for the mission.
  • Human ressources: You will ensure the correct human dimensioning of the mission and supervise the teams (definition of objectives, monitoring).
  • Logistical, administrative and financial monitoring: You will ensure that the logistical and administrative practices in place comply with PUI procedures and formats and are in line with Landlord rules.
  • Medical and technical monitoring: You will ensure that medical and technical practices comply with PUI procedures and formats and are in line with the PUI intervention policy.
  • Representation: You will represent the association with partners, donors, media and various authorities.
  • Relations with Headquarters: You will ensure the proper flow of information between headquarters and the field and ensure that deadlines are met.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Formation : You can demonstrate a higher degree (min. Master 2 or equivalent) in a field related to humanitarian action: project management, technical training related to one of our sectors of intervention, human resources management, financial management, etc.

Experience : You have at least three years of field experience in an international NGO, in project coordination. Experience in expatriate team management, project management, and security management is essential. Have you already held the position of Head of Mission or equivalent in an international NGO? This will be highly appreciated. Have you already worked with Première Urgence Internationale? This will be an undeniable asset!

SKILLS : You are proficient in humanitarian project management and team management, you have in-depth knowledge of the main donors. You have excellent writing skills.

Required qualities : You demonstrate good interpersonal skills, ease of communication, both written and oral, and you have a taste for teamwork. You demonstrate leadership and decision-making skills, reliability and a sense of responsibility, rigor and organization, responsiveness and adaptability. You have excellent resistance to stress and an ability to work under pressure.

LANGUAGES : English holds no secrets for you? All the better, it is essential for this position! If you also speak Arabic, that will also be an undeniable asset.

  • Status: Fixed-term contract manager
  • Gross monthly salary: 3,330.00 – 3,930.00 EUR depending on your experience in international solidarity + 50€ per semester of seniority with PUI
  • Assurance including medical and supplementary health cover, 24-hour assistance, repatriation and insurance

  • **Break scheme:**5 working days at 3 and 9 months of mission + break bonus
