We are initially seeking a consultant to take on fundraising responsibilities, with the opportunity for this role to transition into a permanent position if successful in fundraising. While experience in all areas is not required, we are prioritizing candidates with expertise in bid-writing, corporate partnerships, and trust fundraising. Experience with UK-based fundraising strategies would be a significant advantage. As we are a small team, this person must be highly self-sufficient, able to take initiative, and comfortable working independently. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and nurture existing relationships with funders: Partners, trusts/foundations, and institutional donors, while actively identifying new funding opportunities.
- Lead bid-writing and grant applications: Develop compelling funding proposals and applications for trusts, foundations, and institutional donors.
- Develop corporate and trust partnerships: Identify, cultivate, and secure partnerships with companies and trusts that align with our mission and funding priorities.
- Expand UK, US and international fundraising: Explore opportunities to expand fundraising efforts in the US and globally, leveraging international donor networks.
- Fundraising campaigns & digital monetization: Support the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship programs, and digital fundraising initiatives.
- Develop donor engagement strategies: Strengthen our patron and monthly giving programmes.
- Support fundraising events: Assist with fundraising event planning and execution.
- Fundraising database & reporting: Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities, track performance metrics, and report against KPIs.
- Work collaboratively with team members: Ensure fundraising is integrated into communications, operations, and strategic initiatives.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in Fundraising & Business Development
- At least 10 years of experience in fundraising, business development, or grant writingideally within the nonprofit, international development, or media/education sectors.
- A proven track record of securing grants from trusts, foundations, institutional donors, and corporate partners.
- Experience in developing and writing compelling funding proposals and successfully securing multi-year funding agreements.
- Experience in building partnerships with NGOs, private sector organizations, and technology companies, particularly in the media or health sectors.
- Strategic & Financial Planning
- Experience in fundraising strategy developmentensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Ability to develop budgets for funding applicationsensuring accurate financial forecasting.
- Understanding of funding compliance, impact measurement, and donor reporting requirements.
- Relationship Management & Networking
- Strong ability to nurture and manage donor relationshipsensuring long-term funding partnerships.
- Experience in engaging with high-value donors, corporate sponsors, and institutional funders.
- Excellent networking skills to identify and develop new funding opportunities.
- Digital & Campaign Fundraising
- Experience in digital fundraising, individual giving campaigns, and donor engagement strategies.
- Familiarity with fundraising CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge) for donor tracking and pipeline management.
- Communication & Leadership Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skillswith experience crafting impactful proposals and presentations.
- Ability to manage and mentor volunteer support or fundraising assistants.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to engage with diverse stakeholders across sectors.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Sector-Specific Knowledge
- Experience in fundraising for international development, health education, or media production projects.
- Knowledge of trusts, foundations, and institutional donors focused on global health, education, or media for social change.
- Languages & Regional Knowledge
- Additional language skills (e.g., French, Arabic, or Spanish) would be beneficial for engaging international donors.
- Understanding of funding landscapes in Europe, the UK, North America, and international development contexts.
