Direct the implementation of the actions of the “Humanitarian Action for Migrant Girls, Boys, Adolescents and Their Families in Transit for implementation in Care Centers for Migrants and Refugees (CAPMiR) – Mobile Units in Esquipulas, Chiquimula, Guatemala” financed by the United Nations Children’s Fund -UNICEF- and executed by Action Against Hunger in Guatemala, in close coordination with the project’s technical team, governmental and municipal organizations and other NGOs present in the area.
The main activities you will perform are the following:
Objective 1: Monitoring the implementation of the assigned project activities, as well as complementary actions that contribute to the achievement of the project objectives.
- Ensure compliance with the project work plan.
- Follow up on activities in accordance with the formats provided by Action Against Hunger, both remotely and in the field.
- Coordinate the participation of the different counterparts involved in the project through periodic meetings.
- Establish relationship frameworks with the different counterparts and institutional actors involved in the execution of the project.
- Prepare activity reports in accordance with the formats provided by Action Against Hunger.
- Monitor the project indicators in accordance with the formats provided by Action Against Hunger and in accordance with the information collected in the project.
- Evaluate project execution and formulate reorientations consistent with local realities.
- Propose solutions to resolve eventualities and/or conflicts generated during the development of activities.
- Report possible conflicts, problems and correction suggestions, necessary for the proper execution of the project, to the operations coordination and the nutrition and health coordination, as appropriate.
- Ensure the delivery of the requested supplies, equipment, materials and/or services, in accordance with the objectives of the activity, guaranteeing the quality of the required technical, administrative and logistical support documents (signatures, stamps, dates, formats, logos, etc.) that must integrate the project verification sources.
- Guarantee the archiving of all means of verification and information (physical and electronic) of the different activities carried out within the project, both by Action Against Hunger and the implementing partner. In case of resignation, the delivery of the information must be made within the time established by the labor code to leave the position.
- Prepare technical reports of the actions executed in the project according to the information of each of the partners.
- Collaborate in other activities assigned by management, operations coordination, and nutrition and health coordination of Action Against Hunger.
Objective 2: Human resources management.
- Carry out the technical and operational induction of the new members of the technical staff under your charge.
- Participate in the performance evaluation of the technical personnel under your charge.
- Create and strengthen capacities among the members of the technical staff in charge.
- Organize the training processes of the technical team involved in the project.
- Organize, motivate and monitor the members of the technical team under your responsibility.
- Collaborate in other activities assigned by the management, coordination of operations and coordination of nutrition and health of Action Against Hunger.
Objective 3: Administrative and logistical management.
- Manage appropriately (resources and time) in close relationship with partner organizations, the rest of the Action Against Hunger technical team and other established strategic partners.
- Prepare and supervise the monthly forecast of expenses associated with the entire project, in coordination with the Action Against Hunger Administration staff.
- Track expenses on project activities, as well as support activities, associated with the implementation of Action Against Hunger activities.
- Supervise the project purchasing plan in coordination with the Action Against Hunger Logistics Department.
- Optimize the use of available human and material resources.
- Periodically report on the status of project execution through Action Against Hunger’s own coordination procedures.
- Collaborate in other activities assigned by management, operations coordination, and nutrition and health coordination of Action Against Hunger.
Objective 4: Representativeness of Action Against Hunger before the different coordination bodies and other actors in the project implementation area.
- Lead nutrition issues on behalf of Action Against Hunger, in inter-institutional coordination instances at the local, municipal and departmental levels.
- Represent Action Against Hunger before third parties, in the field of nutrition in the area of implementation of project actions.
- Maintain the maximum achievable transparency and good relations between the technical team, the target population and the rest of the allied institutions.
- Promote institutional dynamics with departmental and municipal authorities linked to the project.
- Participate in meetings related to the topics of Public Health, SRH, maternal and child health and nutrition in the project area.
- Identify and maintain spaces that facilitate the exchange of information and experiences of Action Against Hunger with other relevant actors in improving the health, SRH and nutrition of the population served with the project.
- Represent Action Against Hunger in the definition of co-responsibilities for achieving the results of the project, with public institutions, international agencies, NGOs, local, municipal, departmental and national authorities in the scope of the project.
- Collaborate in other activities assigned by management, operations coordination, and the nutrition and health coordination of Action Against Hunger.
Objective 5: Security management.
- Participate in the monitoring and analysis of the mission’s security situation through the permanent collection of information.
- Report about the situation and security incidents.
- Participate in updating the mission security plan.
- Strictly follow the security plan and risk-reducing measures indicated by the Logistics Coordination and the Regional Directorate of Central America, while ensuring compliance with these by the entire Action Against Hunger team in charge.
- Collaborate in other activities assigned by management, operations coordination, and nutrition and health coordination of Action Against Hunger.
Does this description fit you?
Training:
- University degree at the bachelor’s level in Health Sciences or equivalent.
Specific technical knowledge:
- Knowledge in Project Management with NGOs, preferably humanitarian (At least 6 years of experience)
- Knowledge and experience of coordinating work with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working with government actors at different levels of action (at least 5 years).
Previous experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in humanitarian projects.
- Experience working with communities and health services.
- At least 5 years of experience in inter-institutional coordination.
- Experience working in an urban context and in mobile service points.
- Previous experience working with humanitarian NGOs, international cooperation organizations, foundations or social organizations is desirable.
- Work experience with UNICEF (Desirable)
Knowledge of the humanitarian sector:
- At least 4 years of experience working with humanitarian institutions, preferably in the Guatemalan Dry Corridor area.
- Knowledge of humanitarian principles and values.
Action Against Hunger Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the Strategic Objectives of Action Against Hunger.
- Knowledge of operational technical work and admin-log management principles of Action Against Hunger.
Languages:
- Spanish and basic technical English.
Office automation and specific systems:
- Advanced use of computer tools and the Microsoft Office package (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.).
- Management of specific technical and statistical software.
Mobility (national/international):
- Mobility to the department of Chiquimula.
