Polish Humanitarian Action is a non-governmental organization that has been providing humanitarian and development aid worldwide since 1992. PAH has been present in Madagascar since May 2022, providing humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable population affected by a catastrophic drought in the south of the country. Main tasks and responsibilities:
Project planning and management:
- Supports the Coordinator to develop and update project plans, including schedules, budgets and work plans;
- Coordinate project activities, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets and quality standards.
Project implementation:
- Implements activities related to agronomy and reforestation in the field;
- Collaborates with local communities to establish reforestation plots and vegetable gardens for subsistence crops;
- Assesses water needs and its use in relation to project activities and proposes sustainable irrigation solutions;
- Working in close collaboration with local partners, authorities and beneficiaries to ensure the smooth running of the project;
- Support the installation of an insect farm in the targeted villages;
- Organizes training sessions on gardening techniques, permaculture practices and vermicomposting for local communities;
- Supervises the installation of 7 pelletizers for the production of livestock feed and monitors their use in local communities;
- Writes the BoQs and the list of specifications for the adequate supply of materials and equipment (vermicomposting, insect breeding, tree nurseries, pelletizers);
- Facilitates the adoption of high energy efficiency stoves by identifying some of the beneficiaries.
Monitoring and evaluation:
- Prepares regular reports on the progress of the project, challenges encountered and lessons learned;
- Contributes to the continuous improvement of the project by proposing adjustments based on the results obtained;
- Ensures general monitoring of the security situation in targeted areas and provides feedback to the supervisor on possible problems.
Team management:
- Participates in the recruitment of his team (2 people);
- Supervises and mentors the project team, ensuring their training and professional development in a collaborative and motivating work environment.
Experiences and qualifications required:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in agronomy and reforestation project management, preferably in developing or rural regions;
- Knowledge of development issues in the Malagasy rural context
- Experience of at least 2 years in team management;
- University degree in agronomy, agriculture, environmental sciences or an equivalent field;
- Strong reporting skills;
- Proficient in Excel and other MS Office applications;
- Motorcycle Permits;
- Very good command of Malagasy and French, knowledge of the Tandroy language;
- High level of professionalism and respect for ethical standards;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently and take initiative;
- Willingness to travel and spend extended periods in the field.
