Job purpose:
The Protection Social Worker is working directly under the Senior Safeguarding and Protection Officer. She is primarily responsible for conducting community-based protection activities including individual case management, raising awareness, community engagement and protection monitoring activities to support safeguarding and protection programme in the field for the targeted population according to GOAL approach.

The Social Protection Worker works directly under the supervision of the Senior Protection and Safeguarding Officer. He/she is primarily responsible for implementing community-based protection activities including individual case management, awareness raising, community engagement and
Protection monitoring to support the field protection and conservation programme for the target population according to the JOL approach.
Duties, objectives and competencies
- Provide awareness raising activities and support the development of relevant curricula and messaging in coordination with the line manager.
- Plan and implement awareness sessions through focus groups discussion and community mobilization to prevent/mitigate and respond appropriately to protection concerns in the community.
- Coordinate with and support other GOAL colleagues who are involved in other awareness raising activities (including the Outreach Teams and Distribution Staff) to mainstream safeguarding messaging into their work.
- Conduct monitoring and observation visits for offices and locations were GOAL and/or their partners are implementing any kind of activities to ensure good level of adherence to safeguarding standards and report any wrongdoings and risks according to the internal reporting protocol.
- Conduct regular field participatory protection monitoring and assessments, using an age, gender and diversity approach, to fully understand protection concerns and priorities.
- Participate in conducting various forms of questionnaires and assessments such as protection monitoring and rapid protection assessments to identify persons who have concerns or those at risk, when requested.
- Regularly monitor and evaluate the quality of activities and protection policies being implemented.
- Represent the GOAL protection team when requested by the line manager through attend relevant community meetings; participate in relevant councils, roundtables, and committees.
- Ensure Case Management is implemented according to GOAL Global procedure and guidelines.
- Identification of community members including women, men, boys and girls who require specialized or non-specialized protection services to refer them to services and provide direct or indirect support to them according to GOAL referral protocol.
- Update records and preparing periodic reports on caseload. Beside document all activities within the scope of work including but not limited to participation lists, pictures, training meeting agendas, etc. – and submit detailed monthly reports.
- Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with intended beneficiaries, community members and all other key actors.
- Maintain data confidentiality and manage physical and electronics documentation according to GOAL approach and aligned with donor standards and requirements.
- Support the programme teams when needed and as per direct supervisor directions.
- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the technical & operation line manager.

- Represent the Protection Team when requested by the direct manager by attending relevant community meetings; participating in relevant councils, roundtables and committees.
- Ensure case management is implemented in accordance with global guidelines and procedures.
- Identify community members of women, men, boys and girls who need specialized or non-specialized protection services to refer them to services and provide them with direct or indirect support in accordance with the referral protocol of the GOAL.
- Updating records and preparing periodic reports on caseloads. Documenting all activities within the scope of work including but not limited to participation lists, photos, training meeting agendas, etc.

Requirements (essential)
- University degree in related field (e.g., social work, sociology, international relations, law, psychology, and other relevant disciplines), but other specialties are not excluded.
- Minimum six years of experience working in protection, child protection, GBV, or a similar role.
- Minimum three years of experience in implementing awareness-raising sessions related to protection.
- Minimum three years of experience in providing social assistance and case management.
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills and experience of facilitating trainings or workshops.
- Good negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with highly vulnerable groups.
- Able to work effectively within a team and/or individually.
- Well organized with strong time-management skills.
- Shares GOAL vision and values.
- Computer skills including ability to use Microsoft office (intermediate and above).
- Intermediate level of English (Ability to produce reports and documentation in English).
Requirements (Basic)
- A university degree in a related field (e.g., social work, sociology, international relations, law, psychology, and other related disciplines), but other disciplines will not be excluded.
- Minimum of six years of experience working in protection, child protection, gender-based violence or a similar role.
