The Country Director (PD) is the person in charge of ACCIÓN CONTRA EL HAMBRE in the region, which includes Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras. In coordination with the Geographical Manager, he/she ensures the proper management of resources to achieve the strategic objectives of the mission. He/she ensures the definition and monitoring of the strategy, maintaining the quality and relevance of the actions carried out, always within the mandate of the organization.

The DP represents ACCIÓN CONTRA EL HAMBRE before funders, authorities, international organisations, other non-governmental organisations, the private sector and any institution of interest. He/she is the spokesperson for ACCIÓN CONTRA EL HAMBRE before national and international media, in coordination with the Communications Department.

The DP is responsible for ensuring the financial viability of the mission in coordination with headquarters and ensuring efficient management of available resources. He/she leads the implementation of the public and private fundraising strategy designed in coordination with headquarters for his/her country and is responsible for promoting innovative technical approaches and promoting the systematization of good practices and their replicability.

The DP, through his/her leadership, motivates his/her team, anticipates and manages potential conflicts, encourages innovative approaches and supervises the coordination team.

The DP is responsible for risk management and security in the mission, promotes, encourages and supervises the application of the ACTION AGAINST HUNGER charter of principles, as well as its code of ethics and its anti-fraud policy.

• REPRESENTATION AND POSITIONING: Maintain and expand the organization’s positioning in the region; Represent the organization before key stakeholders (authorities, partners, donors, media) and at international level in accordance with the mandate, the charter of principles and within the strategic framework of ACTION AGAINST HUNGER; Ensure the active participation of the organization in the humanitarian coordination system in the region and in all relevant coordination spaces; Ensure the timely and quality production of documents and other internal and external communication products.
• DEFINITION AND MONITORING OF THE STRATEGY MISSION: Define and implement, in coordination with your team and the geographic manager, the Action Against Hunger intervention strategy in the region, in accordance with the organization’s mandate and the analysis of needs and opportunities; Continuously monitor the context, centralize information and propose adjustments to achieve objectives; Define and monitor the funding plan for the mission strategy and direct resources for its implementation (public and private); Establish/maintain relationships with key stakeholders; Define programmatic priorities in coordination with your team.
• STRUCTURE AND OPERATION: Define with headquarters the structure for achieving the mission’s objectives based on the priorities identified in the strategy and financing plan (positions, profiles, work processes); Ensure good general management of the team, applying the organization’s policies and work processes; Detect and resolve potential conflicts; Maintain and reinforce the dynamics of unity, coherence and motivation of the team; Ensure internal communication of the mission.
• RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: Ensure the proper operational and financial management of the mission, in collaboration with his/her team and headquarters; Ensure efficient use of resources and the achievement of annual objectives; Guide and support the Finance Department in the overall management of the mission’s resources. Monitor the financial situation and, based on the strategy and objectives set, make relevant decisions in collaboration with his/her team and headquarters.
• RISK MANAGEMENT: Ensure the implementation of appropriate measures to mitigate the legal, reputational, financial and security risks of the mission; Ensure respect for the principles and values ​​of the organization, particularly with regard to the code of conduct and the fight against fraud, corruption, abuse and other bad practices; Report any violation of our protocols and policies in a timely manner, according to established procedures; Ensure compliance with legal obligations in the country; Analyze the risks to the security of the mission and adapt the operation and internal measures of the mission to the security situation.
• Proven experience in: institutional relations and representation; management of high-level multidisciplinary teams; identification, negotiation and management of development and humanitarian action programs
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an international NGO in a general management position and with proven experience in high-level negotiations and representation.
• Studies, preferably in topics related to international cooperation and development; High knowledge of the humanitarian environment and international cooperation
• Spokesperson capacity; LANGUAGES: Spanish and English
• General knowledge of the organization and its sectors of intervention; experience in Latin America and knowledge of migration issues will be positively valued.
