Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is one of the world’s largest medical emergency aid organizations and is active wherever human life is threatened. Armed conflicts, epidemics, pandemics and natural disasters, but also a lack of access to health care are among the reasons for our operations.
The Campaign Manager is responsible for the further development and implementation of an engagement plan for Doctors Without Borders in German-speaking Switzerland. This role focuses on optimizing existing and developing new online and offline engagement opportunities in the areas of public engagement, fundraising and human resources. The primary goal is to strengthen the visibility of the organization based on its values and identity and to increase engagement.
Area of responsibility
- You will focus on German-speaking Switzerland and work with the relevant teams, particularly those for communications and fundraising, human resources and medicine.
- Development and implementation of a strategic engagement plan tailored to German-speaking Switzerland.
- Increasing the visibility and reputation of Doctors Without Borders in the German-Swiss media and public forums, addressing new and diverse target groups.
- Participation in targeted fundraising activities and donor retention initiatives.
- Maintaining and expanding relationships with key stakeholders, particularly within medical communities in German-speaking Switzerland, in collaboration with our MSF Switzerland delegate.
- Develop and support recruitment initiatives in collaboration with Human Resources.
Your main tasks:
Strategy development and implementation:
- Development and implementation of a comprehensive engagement strategy for German-speaking Switzerland that is aligned with the strategic objectives of MSF Switzerland.
- Identifying and creating new opportunities for engagement while optimizing existing activities.
- Identification of medical topics that justify the development of new engagement opportunities.
Communication and public engagement:
- In collaboration with the public engagement team, strengthen and expand the visibility and image of Doctors Without Borders in the German-speaking Swiss media.
- Organising and participating in events, forums and debates to raise awareness of MSF’s mission and activities.
Involvement of stakeholders:
- In coordination with the MSF delegate: Maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders, including medical communities, civil society organisations and potential partners.
- If necessary and in coordination with the responsible teams, you will act as a spokesperson for specific topics.
- Proposing new partnerships with external stakeholders in German-speaking Switzerland.
Fundraising:
- Collaborate with the fundraising team to develop targeted campaigns for the German-speaking Swiss market.
- Support the Fundraising and Philanthropy department with events, webinars and digital channels to connect with donors and supporters.
Recruitment and HR collaboration:
- Organisation of online/offline events on the topic of HR marketing in German-speaking Switzerland in cooperation with the responsible HR teams.
- Collaborate with HR to improve recruitment strategies and employer branding in German-speaking Switzerland.
- Supporting the Department of Fundraising and Philanthropy in their contact, correspondence and events with donors and supporters.
Digitales Engagement:
- Strategically use digital channels to increase engagement and fundraising efforts.
- Coordinating the production of relevant content with the digital engagement and creative content teams, for example ensuring that materials are written directly in German.
Training
- University degree in communications, marketing, public relations or a related field.
Experience
- Professional experience in communications or marketing. Management of successful (integrated) engagement campaigns, ideally in the NPO/NGO sector.
- Knowledge of the humanitarian and/or health sector is an advantage.
Languages
- German as a first language
- Good knowledge of English
- French is an advantage.
Professional skills
- Excellent writing and content production skills; strong digital literacy and experience in dealing with digital media.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; strategic, analytical and networked thinking.
Our employment conditions
- Full-time position 100% (40h/week).
- Fixed-term contract (maximum 12 months).
- Place of work: Zurich
- Ideal Start date: 02.09.2024
- Gross annual salary (at 100%): from CHF 93,504.00 to CHF 107,280.00 (salary depending on equivalent experience and internal salary scale).
- Paid vacation: 25 days per year, pro rata temporis, plus Swiss public holidays that fall within the contract period.
- Pension fund: Contribution to the pension fund (2nd pillar BVG), which is covered 3/4 by MSF and 1/4 by the employee.
- Relocation assistance when moving from another country to Switzerland.
